The Bridge Project, On Location Part 2

All of these images were begun on location; a couple were completed in the studio. They are larger than the painted studies, roughly 20″ x 30″. Materials used include charcoal, tempera, cray pas, and Inktense.

These are small drawings and paintings done on location at the Gerald Desmond Bridge Replacement Project throughout 2018 and 2019. Materials used include tempera, watercolor, walnut ink, Inktense, pastel, and charcoal. See the blog for more information about the project.

The Bridge Project, 2017

This was my first image of the Gerald Desmond Bridge Replacement Project, completed in 2017 before I had greater on-site access. I completed two small studies in watercolor on location, and from them created the final image in the studio. Old and New Bridges at the Harbor, tempera and pastel. 20″ x 25″

The Japanese Fishing Village

Once located in the LA Harbor in San Pedro, the Japanese fishing village is no longer there. The owners and residents were victims of forced relocation to concentration camps during WWII.
